It’s a very sad day for me…

City of Newport Beach Planning Department

Today I learned some very sad news. Marina E. Marrelli who has worked at the city of Newport Beach, California lost her battle with cancer. She is with the angels now. Marina has worked for the city of Newport Beach in the Planning Department for the last 17 years. Marina was always a very kind and patient person. I truly enjoyed working with her. Her knowledge of the zoning code was above and beyond that of others. You always got an answer from her with a smile on her face. Marina was in charge of plan checking the “Approval in Concept” plans that are required prior to submitting to the California Coastal Commission.

Marina was very supported of me when I shared that my girlfriend at the time was battling breast cancer. She also supported me with donations when I raised money for the Susan G. Komen Race for a Cure. I did not know that Marina was battling her own form of cancer until she came back to work with a wig on. I knew then what she had been going through from my experience with my friend Sharon. I just know now that Marina is no longer in pain anymore..

I will miss you Marina Marrelli.

Rest in Peace my friend.
